Miami home fire leaves one injured, one dog dead

A fire in a duplex house in southwest Miami-Dade left one injured and one dog dead, according to the fire department report.

At approximately 2:22 a.m., the Miami Fire and Rescue Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire at 3448 15th Street in Southwest Miami.

According to fire officials, crews upon arrival found a two-story residential duplex with heavy smoke and flames visible from a second-story window. They immediately requested additional resources to deal with the emergency.

Firefighters made a quick attack and managed to get the fire under control in a matter of minutes. When conducting a search for victims, they found a dog that had died.

Two adult residents were evaluated by paramedics and one was transported to Jackson Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center with burns to his arms and face. The patient was an adult male and is in stable condition, according to the report.

A total of 6 adults were displaced and will receive assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Miami Fire Investigation Unit is seeking to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
