The Miami-Dade Police Department arrested one of its officers this Wednesday, Miguel Lomeli32 years old, accused of to kidnap y sexually assault his ex-girlfriend.

Lomeli was arrested after the victim reported that after the dispute with the officer, who was wearing his uniform and driving a Miami-Dade police patrol car, he followed her to her residence, where he demanded that she get out of her vehicle.

The woman refused and Lomeli, enraged, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the house, where he put handcuffs on her and sexually abused her.

Despite the details revealed, the timeline of the events and how the victim managed to escape the situation is unknown.

According to the arrest report, after the officer left, a phone call was made between the woman and him. During the conversation, Lomeli admitted to the victim’s accusations.

Stephanie V. Daniels, acting director of the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), reported the officer’s arrest in a press release. “There is no place for betrayal of public trust of any kind in the Miami-Dade Police Department. “The allegations of misconduct by one of my officers are extremely concerning and immediate steps have been taken to hold the officer accountable,” she stated.

“The integrity of our police department is of utmost importance, and we must continue to act at the highest standards to safeguard the trust of all Miami-Dade County residents. I will not allow this badge to be tarnished by anyone,” she stressed.

The department’s Special Victims Office and the State Attorney’s Office cooperated in Lomeli’s arrest.

“The Miami-Dade Police Department will continue its thorough investigation and will work closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to ensure that justice is fully served,” he said.

Lomeli appeared this Thursday before the Miami-Dade criminal court, charged with three counts: kidnapping, sexual assault and armed assault. He is being held in the Turner Guilford Knight (TGK) prison, without bail.

Last October, A Miami-Dade Police officer with almost 10 years of service was arrested on charges of child sexual abuse against three minors, including his own daughter. The detainee was identified as Daniel Ramos-Avilés, 40 years old and of Puerto Rican origin, and accused of seven criminal counts of sexual abuse or inappropriate conduct towards minors.
