In the midst of his campaign for the presidential elections in October, Libertad Avanza deputy, Javier Mileyvisited San Juan and emphasized his commitment to lower inflation “one way or the other”.

“The chances of hyperinflation are enormous. If I become President, the mandate is clear. Lower inflation or I’ll hit you with a volley. My commitment is to lower inflation and I’m going to lower it with clubs. With dollarization it is faster. If not, I’ll make a big adjustment in the public sector that will absorb my pesos,” he said in the first place.

In this sense, the deputy remarked that “it is best to make reforms that are irreversible“, and explained that, in case of winning the elections, inflation will drop “one way or the other.”

“The environmental conditions are not minor. There is a macroeconomic disaster, but if hyperinflation comes, the caste will come on their knees to ask for dollarization,” he said. Regarding the difficulties that may exist when assuming the direction of the country, Milei maintained that “the difficult scenario is that they plant the bomb one minute before leaving. My first alternative is to take the proposal to Congress, which may reject it. No I would go for a binding referendum, but for a popular consultation. If they reject it, I accelerate the cut in public spending.”

“It is very important to quickly lower inflation,” he stressed, but clarified that “wanting to recreate a currency is more expensive and riskier” than proceeding with dollarization.
