CDMX.- Before UNAM resolves the accusation of plagiarism against Minister Yasmín Esquivel, the judge reported the evidence presented in her favor, including the alleged testimony of Edgar Ulises Báez Gutiérrez, who would have agreed to be the plagiarist of the document.
In a statement, he said that Báez’s testimony was provided by his thesis advisor, Martha Rodríguez, and that it was validated before a notary public.
“I consider that it favors me, since he recognized and expressly stated that: ‘I took several references and text from that work’ and ‘I was able to take several important parts of her work in the year from 1985 to 1986′”.
Therefore, he assured, “it is confirmed that the original authorship of the work is mine.”
The writer Guillermo Sheridan recently revealed that Esquivel had submitted a thesis in September 1987 similar to another prepared a year earlier, in July 1986, by Báez Gutiérrez.
In a statement released by Twitter, the Minister said she was defamed and assured that there are outside interests that seek to intervene in the appointment of the new president of the Court to be decided next Monday, January 2. Esquivel aspires to that position.
In the same way, he pointed out that he presented before the Academic and Scientific Integrity Committee of the FES Aragón three expert opinions in computer science that conclude that his thesis was uploaded to the UNAM thesis repository before that of the other student.
“It was also proven that the file containing my thesis was improperly and illegally modified on December 22, 2022,” he said.
In addition, two expert opinions in documentoscopy, where it is determined that he began to prepare his thesis work since 1985.
“I respect the institutions and their autonomy. For this reason, I have only focused on presenting endless convincing evidence through institutional channels that demonstrate that I am the original author of the thesis,” she said.
