Mexico City.- The attack by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador against the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) seeks to prevent the organization from exhibiting the growing corruption of his Government, PAN legislators said.

Héctor Saúl Téllez, secretary of the Budget and Public Accounts Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, indicated that the audio in which the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, is heard saying that for the federal President, an INAI without a quorum to operate is a ideal world, shows the contempt that both have towards the right of Mexicans to information.

“It is unfortunate to know the position of the Government and the President, we hope that the senators of Morena and the Senate in general, work now, so that the INAI appointments are made and the ineffectiveness of this body, so guarantor of transparency, ends in our country,” he demanded.

The PAN deputy recalled that on behalf of his bench, he presented an initiative to reform articles 6 of the Constitution and 18 of the Federal Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information, in order to prevent interference by the Executive Branch in the appointments of INAI directors.

Téllez said that every week that passes without the Institute being able to operate there are at least 500 appeal resolutions that cannot be issued.

“It seems ideal to President López Obrador and his government, that there is no transparency, it seems ideal, because he is afraid that all the influence peddling, all the anomalous contracts, all the direct awards, all the cost overruns and all the wrong management of the budget and treasury of all Mexicans,” he said.

According to a recording broadcast by the host Carlos Loret de Moral, the Secretary of the Interior and presidential candidate acknowledged before senators from Morena that, for the President, an INAI without a quorum to operate is the ideal world.

The PAN parliamentary group in the Senate agreed that curbing INAI appointments seeks to prevent it from exhibiting the growing corruption and transas of the federal government.

“They want to put an end to @INAImexico, which is why the Secretary of the Interior orders @MorenaSenadores to stop appointments. @lopezobrador_ says that it is useless, because INAI exhibits the growing corruption and transas of @GobienroMX. They are cynical and corrupt,” they stated. .
