A hiker who was reported missing near Phoenix, Arizona, was pronounced dead Friday night after allegedly suffering from a heat-related illness. due to the extreme temperatures that continue to plague the southwestern United States.
Jessica Christine Lindstrom, 34, began a hike at the Deem Hills Recreation Area around 8:30 a.m. Friday but did not return for several hours, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Family and friends joined firefighters and police to search for Lindstrom, but his remains were discovered around 5 pm near a trail in the area, the station said.
