Under the plan “Sidewalks to work”the Municipality of La Plata closed the instance to request free tiles: a total of 866 neighbors signed up to renew their sidewalks. The program will soon be extended to all the shopping centers in the city.
The Secretary of Urban Planning, Maria Bottawho is in charge of the plan, specified that the requests from the residents, which were managed through an online form, They were especially concentrated on avenues 13, 53 and 60, and streets 57, 3 and diagonal 74and that will allow to renovate more than 16,000 square meters.
“Only in the area that covers from avenue 1 to avenue 13 and from avenue 44 to avenue 60, 16,995 square meters of sidewalks will be renovated,” he pointed out and explained that “now, we are in the review process to verify if all the orders are valid and determine their particularities”. The official explained that, among the factors to be evaluated, are whether the surface requires partial or total intervention and whether it presents breaks due to trees.
“Veredas a la obra” aims to optimize the accessibility and safety of passersby on public roads and consists of the delivery of free tiles by the Municipality so that the fronters only have to pay for the materials and labor.
In addition to private homes and businesses, the Commune’s plan first covered the exterior of the Municipal Palace, continues in a key section of 7th avenue and will soon reach other arteries and all the Party’s shopping centers.
