Origin and career of Moritz Bleibtreu

Moritz Bleibtreu was already in front of the camera as a child. He has now acted in more than 90 movies.

He is the son of popular Austrian actress Monica Bleibtreu (1944-2009) and folk actor Hans Brenner (1938-1998). Renato Attilio Bleibtreu, was his grandfather and a well-known author and theater director.

As a child, Moritz played in the children’s series “News from Uhlenbusch”, on which both parents also worked. After eleven years, Moritz Bleibtreu left the Jahnschule (now the Ida-Ehre-School) in Hamburg-Harvestehude with a high school diploma. He preferred to learn French in Paris and work there as an au pair.

After that he spent a year in Italy and then acting lessons in New York. At the age of 21, Bleibtreu got his first engagement at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus.
