“Justice for All” is the anthem that was sung by a group of defendants who are imprisoned for their participation in the insurrection of January 2021.
Recorded through a prison phone line, that national anthem sounds more like funeral music than celebration and was played in the background as Trump recites the Alliance Pledge.
Despite its low fidelity, “Justice for All” has attracted many fans.
Trump, who is a Republican, played it at a recent rally in Waco, Texas, as images of protesters on Capitol Hill played behind him on a big screen, and the song, which costs $1.29, caught on last month. as number 1 on iTunes, beating recordings by artists like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.
Experts on extremism and propaganda say the song is another example of how Trump and his staunchest allies are trying to cover up the avalanche of evidence proving the riot on Capitol Hill was anything but an act of patriotic resistance.
It also shows that the revisionists have dug deep into the books of authoritarianism that relies heavily on the use of a national identity to change public opinion.
In this case, Trump and his allies are ironically relying on America’s most patriotic song in their effort to justify the insurrection that helped kill five and injure more than 120 police officers, experts said.
“It should not surprise us that this propaganda is effective, but it is shocking to see this happening in our country,” said Federico Finchelstein, chair of the Department of History at the New School for Social Research in New York, an expert in authoritative disinformation.
“What they are demanding is that reality be put aside in order to be loyal to the leader, which in this case is Donald Trump.”
