The owner of TwitterElon Musk, announced this Tuesday that audio and video calls will soon be able to be made on the platform.

“Soon it will be possible to carry out audio and video chats from your account to (that of) any (user) on the platform,” he said in a tweet.

“So you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving out your phone number.”



In a later comment posted on TwitterMusk maintained that the courier service WhatsAppoperated by Meta, “is not reliable”.

A messaging function in Twitter could compete with the series of free services offered by, among others, Messenger, Signal, Telegram or WhatsApp.

Musk He added that starting Wednesday, Twitter will begin encrypting direct messages on the platform to safeguard privacy.
