Maitreyi Ramakrishnan does not validate Devi’s choice and reassures disappointed fans: “They can perfectly meet later. Note my words…”
Devi is done playing Never Have I Ever. Netflix released the end of its teen series online My First Times. Season 4 concludes the adventure of the high school girl, who finished high school and therefore goes to college in the finale. Spoiler alert!
All’s well that ends well for the young woman, who was received at Princeton, as she had hoped so much. Her friends do what they have chosen too and above all, the love of her life comes to find her in a final romantic gesture. So sexy Paxton Hall-Yoshida or nice Ben Gross? It is obviously the second that the authors of Never Have I Ever. Devi and Ben end up together My First Times after having turned around all the year of Terminale. Paxton wasn’t even really in the equation.
What did not really please Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The star actress of the series confesses today (in Variety) that she was Team Paxton and not Team Ben!
“Basically, I’m Team Devi, but now I can make my choice in conscience: I’m Team Paxton basically”, balances Ramakrishnan. before calling out to his two male comrades, Darren Barn et Years Lewisonshocked: “Don’t act like you’re shocked. I told you about it several times on the set“. She explains her choice:
“Devi has idolized Paxton since she was little and always had a crush on him, but in Season 2 she recognized that Paxton wasn’t perfect and so she had to deal with her own worries. It’s not just a stud; he’s also a bit of a dork. They have this undeniable chemistry and they push each other one way or another. She helps Paxton academically, and he raised him humanly, to help her. controlling your emotions and valuing them. And I think that’s pretty damn awesome.”
And the young actress does not think, moreover, that Ben and Devi are made to stay together, even if they decide to start a (short) distance relationship during college, he at Columbia in New York and her at Princeton, New Jersey. She is convinced that Paxton will come back into her life:
“Any couple can take time off and stay apart for a while. That’s fine. They can get together later. Mark my words… So yeah, I’m still Team Devi, but I can now say it: I’m also Team Paxton.”
Even Years Lewison goes in his direction and judges that “if the writers made the best decision, obviously, in choosing Ben, I am not impartial in this story… I will always be Team Ben, but respect to Maitreyi who is not totally wrong: if we talk about a triangle in love, it’s also because he has different sides. You can see things from different angles!”
He doesn’t believe so well. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan doesn’t even see the last romantic scene of My First Times like the end of the series. This sequence where Ben and Devi cuddle lovingly in her dorm room at Princeton does not really exist for her. “For me, the end of the series is when Devi is in front of this Hindu altar praying and she is so grateful for her whole life. Melted, and his life goes on…”
