Brad Ingelsby’s new project will plunge the Shutter Island actor into the heart of a group of police officers.

It just fell. Mark Ruffalo will soon come back to HBO in a new series of Brad Inglesbythe creator of Mare of Easttown.

According to Variety, the casting choice was made before the start of the writers’ strike, which put most productions in Hollywood on hold. For the moment, the title and the release date of the series have not been announced, but we already know that it will follow a group of police officers, and the criminals they try to apprehend.

“Brad’s (Ingelsby) boundless creativity and ability to captivate audiences is very inspiring. We are very happy to embark with him on a new project. Also, when we have the opportunity to collaborate with Mark (Ruffalo), we seize the chance to see him embody a new role with great humanity (…) The convergence of these talents is very promising, we can’t wait to share this story with the public”, explains Francesca Orsi, head of drama series at HBO.

And we understand the enthusiasm: Mare of Easttown was a hit when it was released in 2021. Worn by Kate Winslet, the series had received 16 Emmy Award nominations, and the team left with four trophies under their arms.

Ruffalo is not unknown to the platform either. The actor of Shutter Island had previously appeared in the miniseries I Know This Much Is True in 2020. For this original creation, he split himself into two twin brothers. An interpretation that had earned him the Emmy for best actor in a mini-series the same year. In 2014, it was also found in The Normal Heart on HBO, a film that won the Emmy Awards for Best TV Movie the same year.
