NEW YORK-. The attendance during this season of the NBA increased by 1.4% and the league set a series of records for ticket sales and sellouts.
Total attendance for the regular season, which ended Sunday, was 22,536,341, the league said — the second straight season the NBA has set a new record. Other records this season include 872 sold-out games, 71% of games, and an average attendance of 18,322.
The previous mark was 22,234,502 attendees and total sales in 791 games and 63% of the matches. The average attendance of 18,077 people in the 2022-23 season.
In total, the arena said arenas were at 98% capacity, another league record.
Part of the reason for the increase in attendance is the success of the NBA Cup, which was held for the first time this season in November and December. The NBA’s average attendance for those November games was 18,208, another record.
There were 10 teams — Boston, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Miami, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Sacramento — that were sold out for every game. In addition, fans from more than 150 countries purchased tickets for at least one game, the league added.
