In Ain, a grandmother died trying to save her grandson from a sledge fall this Sunday. The 61-year-old fell from a rock ledge 30 meters high.

An outing that turns tragic. A grandmother and her grandchildren, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, were tobogganing this Sunday near the Col de la Faucille in Ain. As the two children were on the sled, it suddenly picked up speed, spiraling out of control.

According to information from Dauphine Libere, the girl managed to jump, but not the boy who continued his mad dash towards a ravine. Wanting to stop him, his grandmother threw herself forward and the two fell from the rock bar.

The child is unharmed

After falling nearly 30 meters high, the sexagenarian died. His grandson miraculously escaped with a simple wrist injury. He was airlifted to the Annecy hospital center.
