This Tuesday The new Neighborhood Approach Force (FAB) was presented in La Platawhich will deploy its actions first in the provincial capital and which will also be extended to another ten municipalities of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) in the coming days.

As explained, this sector of the force is going to do prevention work, similar to what the local police did some time ago. That is, walking in shopping malls, working at high-intensity red dots in neighborhoods, and doing different work from what the Police do every day.

According to what EL DIA was able to learn, in a first stage the 300 troops will be coordinated and will belong to the Immediate Operations Tactical Unit (UTOI).

“Although there may be fixed points, the idea is to reinforce surveillance in hot areas,” added official sources.

“The operational base of La Plata will have 300 troops, 10 patrol cars and 20 high displacement motorcycles. With an operational doctrine of high intervention standards and renewed equipment, logistics and communications, solutions and immediacy will be provided in the resolution of conflicts and the preservation of citizen tranquility”, said Alak, who is currently the official in charge of Security, after the license of Sergio Berni.

In this first stage, the FAB, in addition to the provincial capital, will be deployed in the ten districts considered the most dangerous: Quilmes, Florencio Varela, Avellaneda, Morón, La Matanza, Lomas de Zamora, San Martín and Esteban Echeverría. “Insecurity is a permanent historical problem, there is no government that does not have to face it as a priority issue, but the Ministry of Security is working very responsibly, the situation will gradually improve,” added Alak, who in recent weeks moves as a possible candidate for mayor of La Plata.

The force, which is made up of police officers specially selected and trained to act as a rapid action group in crisis situations, already carried out tasks 24 hours a day in some 27 neighborhoods in the Buenos Aires suburbs. However, this new deployment will strengthen some places, and will add more members, better trained, to other municipalities.

The mayor of La Plata, Julio Garro, added: “We are going to work together with the Ministry of Security of the Province to determine in which areas the presence will be intensified and thus improve security for all residents.”
