On September 15, Netflix has added around twenty new releases to its catalog, including the thriller Cold blood, released in 2019. The feature film tells the story of Nelson Coxman, a snowplow driver in Colorado, whose life is turned upside down when he is told of the death of his son Kyle. When the hero goes to the morgue to identify his son’s body, he refuses to believe the version that Kyle died of a heroin overdose. Nelson quickly discovers that his son was murdered on the orders of a powerful cartel led by a certain Trevor ‘Viking’ Calcote. Mad with rage, Nelson sets out to take revenge on the drug lord by assassinating his associates one by one.

Quite a revenge for this feature film which is in reality a shot-by-shot remake of the Norwegian film Cooled by director Hans Petter Moland. The latter is also at work behind Cold blood. “When I saw Chilled, it had everything I needed. And Cold Blood is from the same barrel“, explained producer Michael Shamberg, known for having produced pulp Fiction. “It’s a film where we had to find the balance between action and dark humor, and that’s why it had to be Hans Petter who did it. And in the middle of it all, there’s the wonderful Liam Neeson who brings all his old-fashioned action man charisma and delights in using it in a new direction“.
