Princess Cruises launches another new ship onto the seven seas. The maiden voyage leads through the Mediterranean Sea.

With the “Star Princess”, the US shipping company Princess Cruises will set sail in the summer of 2025, its second LNG ship. In addition to the liquid gas drive, the new building from the Sphere class, a new boat platform, stands out due to its dimensions: The design is 20 percent larger than that of all current ships in the fleet, reports Princess Cruises.

Like its Sphere sister ship “Sun Princess”, which will be commissioned in February 2024, the “Star Princess” offers space for around 4300 passengers. The maiden voyage is scheduled to start in Rome on August 4, 2025 and will take nine days through the Mediterranean Sea.

If the name sounds familiar, the shipping company has had ships named “Star Princess” in its fleet twice. The last ship with this name was handed over in 2021 and has been sailing under the name “Pacific Encounter” for P&O Cruises Australia since then. (dpa)
