Xbox teams have been working on a new home interface for Microsoft consoles for months now. But the time has come to take the next step as public testing is paused.

Microsoft thanks the Xbox Insiders who participated in the months-long experiments on the Xbox Dashboard.

Today we’re pausing experiments to prepare for the bigger updates we’ll be releasing soon. This means that Xbox Insiders Alpha and Alpha-Skip who were using the Experimental version of Home will revert to the experience you were originally using. Custom settings and backgrounds will revert to what they were before the experiences, and we’ll save your “new home” settings.

We do not yet know when the new dashboard will be deployed, but Microsoft says it has heard the feedback from players who complained about a lack of space for you to enjoy the wallpapers, as well as too much space. “We strive to balance experience, accessibility, functionality and the needs of our community, to provide you with a pleasant and refreshed home experience”says Xbox.

Tests of a new Xbox interface were launched last September, but many members of the community were quick to step up to express their fears. Too much information, too much publicity, too many unwanted elements, and not enough space for the image… criticisms were numerous and Microsoft was not always in the direction of listening.

The new Xbox interface is still planned for 2023, stay tuned on Xboxygen to know the details as soon as it is published.
