NEW YORK — And it happens again.
The New York area is expected to experience cloudy skies and poor air quality again on Wednesday and Thursday due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires, state Governor Kathy Hochul warned Tuesday.
The Democrat asked the most vulnerable communities, such as children, the elderly and people with respiratory problems, to avoid being outdoors on Wednesday. The State is expected to issue an air quality advisory as the Air Quality Index (AQI) could reach “unhealthy” levels in certain areas, including western and central New York.
He also said that masks for New Yorkers will be available in the state.

Hochul added that he has ordered his team to start the cell phone alert system to inform people in those problem areas. airnow.gov is also available for you to check air quality by zip code.
Smoke from wildfires in Ontario and Quebec moved into Minnesota Monday night, the Associated Press reported. That includes the Twin Cities area, as far as the northeast corner of the state, and as far as the southwest and southeast corners.
