The Federal Employment Agency has announced that it will expand its digital offering. One of the aims of these measures is to make it easier to apply for funds, according to a recent press release.
After the innovation of applying for child benefit electronically using the so-called ELSTER certificate was introduced last year, this is now also possible for the “child allowance”. The only requirement for this is an ID card with an eID function, which replaces the conventional signature. However, the use of these services is voluntary, and all applications can still be made in the conventional way.

From now on, families will also be able to send notifications and evidence directly to the office and upload the necessary documents online. Objections or objections are also possible digitally.
In addition, the Federal Employment Agency has set up an online tool on its website that families can use to calculate whether they can receive the child allowance. It is also possible to book online appointments for a video consultation or to use the so-called digital assistant to answer basic questions about child benefit and child allowance.
