1. FC Nürnberg pulls the ripcord in the relegation battle. As the second division team officially confirmed on Monday morning, head coach Markus Weinzierl was released from his duties with immediate effect. Assistant coach Tobias Zellner also has to resign.

Yesterday, the club went down 0:5 at 1. FC Heidenheim. They are 13th in the table, only two points away from the relegation zone. Weinzierl only took over in Nuremberg at the beginning of October.
It is not yet known who will follow the 48-year-old. At a press conference at 1 p.m., sports director Dieter Hecking wants to provide information on how to proceed. Frank Steinmetz is the assistant coach for the time being.
