Since 2021, NVIDIA has provided developers of Unreal Engine access to its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, a powerful tool that integrates artificial intelligence in the creation of projects developed in the graphics engine of Epic Games. With the recent update, DLSS 3 is now accessible for Unreal Engine 5.2 usersproviding greater reach for creators and designers to be able to take advantage of this innovative feature.
The recently released package on the platform encapsulates three of the essential functionalities that DLSS 3 has to offer: Frame Generation, Super Resolution and Reflex. These can be purchased and provide full tracking of all the improvements that the AI algorithm has been able to achieve. According to NVIDIA itself, this combination allows for up to a four-fold improvement in gaming performance, and also paves the way for the implementation of the ray tracing.

Besides, NVIDIA has integrated an Anti-Aliasing mode for those users who have more capacity in their GPU and seek to further optimize the graphic quality of their games. This addition complements Image Scaling, an open source spatial scaling solution that improves algorithm efficiency across all platforms.

Frame Generation, as its name suggests, uses artificial intelligence to create new frames. and brings even more quality and responsiveness to projects that will be developed within Unreal Engine 5.2. Reflex, on the other hand, unites the performance of the processor and the video card, reducing latency and input lag, minimizing the impacts caused by the communication between the two and allowing the player not to feel its effects.
It’s worth remembering that in order to take full advantage of all that DLSS 3 has to offer, the gamer will need to have a GeForce RTX Series 40, Ada Lovelace, video card equipped in their PC.
