Eleven appearances this season, an average of 45 minutes – these numbers give you an idea that Florent Mollet has not made a lasting start in FC Schalke. The beefy midfielder came from HSC Montpellier as a regular player and supposed immediate reinforcement, but he didn’t keep that promise.
From a purely sporting point of view, after the impressions of the past few months, it would be manageable if Mollet’s stay in Gelsenkirchen should remain an interlude. The fact that this scenario is up for debate is due to an offer from the 31-year-old’s home country. According to ‘WAZ’, Schalke has received a concrete offer from FC Nantes.
As the regional newspaper further reports, Mollet (contract until 2025) is open to returning to France. And Schalke should not be averse to a transfer either. For royal blue, however, only a sale – not a loan – with a profit is possible. Nantes would therefore have to offer more than the 500,000 euros that S04 transferred to Montpellier in the summer.
