AInstead of the traditional gold rings, this Czech couple opted to exchange ‘intelligent wedding rings’ on their wedding day, reports the BBC.

But what exactly are these rings, which are now part of Jiri and Ondrej Vedral’s love story? These are, in short, electronic devices with functions similar to those of smart watches (‘smart watches’). And they generally allow the user to monitor their heartbeat, as well as make payments via ‘contactless’ technology.

These rings were, however, thought to be more romantic than most – because they allow them to “see and feel” their partner’s heartbeat.

For this, each ring connects, via Bluetooth, to an application on the user’s mobile phone. Through this mechanism, the two rings can also connect to each other.

Thus, each time Jiri presses the ring, the ring begins to replicate her husband’s heartbeat, as well as displaying her heartbeat via a moving red line. The same happens in the case of Ondrej.

As long as their mobile phones are connected to the Internet, each of them receives information about the other’s heartbeat in real time. If any of them is turned off, they are shown the last recorded record.
