Good childcare facilities are a central concern of the city of Hohenems and are therefore being gradually expanded.

At the turn of the year, the Rheinhof childcare and the Hofkindergarten started operations under a new common roof and have since offered the children a modern, natural and ecological environment to grow up in.

The official opening took place last Friday, May 12, 2033, and numerous guests, interested parties, as well as the children and parents of the facilities admired the new building.

Present at the opening were Mayor Dieter Egger, President of the State Parliament Harald Sonderegger, Deputy Mayor Patricia Tschallener, City Councilor Milina Kloiber, architect Lukas Peter Mähr (MWArchitekten) and Pastor Thomas Heilbrun. They all praised the innovative concept of the farm kindergarten, which is operated in cooperation with the agricultural school (BSBZ) and thus offers the children a natural environment.

The Rheinhof child care and the courtyard kindergarten are an important contribution to child care in the district. The modern building was built in an ecological way with wood and solid interior walls and takes into account all the ecological criteria of the municipal building certificate. Heating is via geothermal probes, which also enable passive cooling in summer. A PV system on the roof provides an environmentally friendly power supply. 1.67 million euros were spent on realizing it. A quarter of this was financed by the state, another 45 percent by the federal government.

The farm kindergarten offers space for 18 children who are cared for by three carers. 37 children and ten caregivers are housed in the Rheinhof childcare facility. The connection with the agricultural school enables the children to use the teaching gardens and stables and to experience a natural environment.

The children were enthusiastic about their new kindergarten when it opened and clearly enjoyed the opportunities to play and learn. Everyone involved in the construction and project can be proud of their innovative concept and successful implementation. “The farm kindergarten and the Rheinhof childcare are an important contribution to childcare and offer the children a happy and healthy time in their new environment. At this point we would also like to express our sincere thanks to the agricultural school for the always good cooperation and patience in the realization of the project!”, Mayor Dieter Egger and Deputy Mayor Patricia Tschallener and City Councilor Milina Kloiber finally thanked together.
