The Oppo Find N2 Flip will soon arrive in France to compete with Samsung’s foldable hegemony. A real alternative to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and 4, we tell you why we liked it and why it may be worth it.

8 /10

  • Nice internal screen in 21:9
  • Large external display
  • Almost invisible crease
  • Very successful ColorOS interface

The Find N2 Flip is Oppo’s new curiosity at the start of 2023. If it intrigues you as much as it makes you want to, then you’ve come to the right place. Should you crack? What’s more than the reference folding model so far, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 from Samsung?

Titouan, our smartphone specialist, was able to test it. As a result, he was won over since he gave it an 8/10. We explain here why we would specifically recommend this model if you are looking for a folding smartphone.

We have also included it in three of our guides, proof that it is one of the best smartphones:

Why choose the Oppo Find N2 Flip?

Why choose this folding smartphone rather than another? Here are three good reasons to crack, in our opinion.

For its perfectly mastered hinge

When it comes to folding smartphones, the hinge is obviously the heart of the problem. Manufacturers have thus redoubled their efforts, year after year, to make it less and less visible. If Samsung was still struggling with its latest model, the Z Flip 4, Oppo has succeeded in this tour de force. It’s simple, the fold is hardly seen, can’t be felt. In addition, in the closed position, there is no space between the two parts of the screen… When opening and closing, the hinge of the Find N2 is also more flexible, which makes it easier to use. easier hand.

The finishes are there, and the design, very close to that of its Samsung sidekick, is licked. Expect a smartphone of some weight. Overall, the look of the phone is a hit. It is pleasant to hold and use.

For its two screens

This is one of the differential characteristics of folding smartphones: they have two screens. However, Oppo has pushed the slider further than Samsung by significantly enlarging the outer screen, which can therefore be used when the phone is folded. The latter, which is used vertically, is 3.26 inches and allows you to do a whole host of things, including taking photos, consulting notifications and shortcuts, messages, changing music, accessing different widgets… We regret a tad the absence of certain features present on the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but overall, this small screen is very practical, especially to avoid opening the phone… and possibly being caught in it.

The large 6.8-inch internal screen also brings real added value. Of very good quality, it occupies a ratio of 21:9, therefore less elongated than that of the Z Flip 4. This allows it to adapt perfectly to video content. You benefit from a very large slab, but which will take up much less space in your pocket…

For its hybrid format

Quite simply because the biggest advantage of a folding smartphone lies there: in its ability to be both big… and small. In the folded position, you get a rectangle of 8.3 cm by 7.5 cm and 7.45 mm thick: a very compact format therefore. The internal screen is naturally protected, so you can throw it carelessly into a handbag, and above all… slip it into your pocket. It’s much more difficult to achieve this with an equivalent 6.8-inch full-size smartphone (e.g. the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra), especially if you’re wearing pants designed for women, whose pockets can barely fit a Tic- Tac.

In short, you will have understood, this form-factor half-compact, half-large format, can really be interesting on a daily basis, especially if you watch a lot of video content and want a large screen, without the disadvantages.

Oppo Find N2 Flip: the downsides to know

The perfect product does not exist. Oppo’s product does not in fact have huge weak points, but rather several small ones, which will have to be accommodated on a daily basis. These include a rather limited one-day autonomy (however partly offset by a 44W charge), a lack of waterproof certification, as well as a telephoto lens. Overall, we must admit that the photo score will not be dazzling for this price, while remaining quite usable, of course.

If these specific points are absolutely not a problem for you, go for it… after reading our detailed Find N2 Flip test.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip is for you if…

  • You absolutely want a folding smartphone, and nothing else
  • You want an original phone, which you don’t see everywhere
  • You demand a smartphone that’s small…but big
  • You want to spend less time on your smartphone, thanks to the external screen
  • The photo quality is not an absolutely decisive point for you

The Find N2 Flip is available for pre-order at 1,099 euros, and will be delivered from February 28.
