The big news for Overwatch 2 matchmaking is finally here: after months of issues related to matching players in matches depending on their skills, Blizzard has implemented the fix that will hopefully be permanent.

This was confirmed by Aaron Keller himself, game director of the free-to-play hero shooter. On Twitter, in fact, he wrote that the team has successfully addressed the problems of the so-called SBMM, fixing the bug that resulted in Bronze players having Grandmaster level playersmaking the games extremely unbalanced.

In detail, Keller wrote: “Today we started rolling out fixes for an issue where players with a much lower skill level were being dragged into higher ranked matches. We have made several changes to matchmaking in S3, we will be monitoring them and discussing their impact in the next blog update. We will continue to observe and make further changes as needed.”.

With these fixes, therefore, players will get a rank update after five wins or 15 losses, instead of the previous seven wins or 20 losses, creating a more uniform average MRR and avoiding that a player with too high a level spoils the gaming experience for those at lower ranks. Who knows if this change will really have the desired effects.

A few days ago, however, the arrival of One Punch Man on Overwatch 2 was confirmed with an event in March.
