Juarez City.- We have the first finalist of the Regional, it is the team of the Owls, home of the batting champion, Óscar Sigala, the brand new signing of the Indios de Ciudad Juárez, Carlos ‘Hulk’ Díaz, who went 5-4; and Luis Peña, who finished the game at 5-3.
Despite being forced to win the match, Cielito Lindo’s men were the authors of the worst start for a team in the Regional because, just in the first inning, they received the scandalous number of seven runs.
The Owls jumped onto the diamond wanting to knock out their rivals. The brutal offensive came from Carlos Muñoz, Christian Pacheco, Luis Peña, Óscar Sigala, Oziel Méndez, Yahir Gurrola, and the ‘Hulk’ Díaz.
Sweetheart was puzzled. The hitters could barely respond in the third inning, when Irving Muñoz drove in Juan Arzaga and Kevin García. However, these notes were of little use to slow down the pace of the feathered.
Sigala reappeared to drive Christian Pacheco, after the play, Mares hit far from left field for the ‘Hulk’ Díaz and Carlos Muñoz to make things 10-2.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the manager of the Owls, Manuel Soto, sent for pitcher Juan Villareal, a former pitcher for the eliminated UACJ team. The reliever had a solid performance in the game, not allowing a single run until his exit in the top of the ninth inning for Gabriel Aguilar.
Thus ended the story of Cielito Lindo in the Regional, with a record of nine wins and four losses. While the Owls became the first finalist of the tournament, with eight wins and five losses.
The feathered will meet their rival this Sunday, when the Vultures and Pirates culminate the last chapter of this dramatic semifinal. Yesterday afternoon, the scavengers took the lead in the series after defeating the buccaneers by a score of 7-4.
The fourth game will be played this morning at the Jaime Canales Lira stadium, if necessary, the fifth game will be held that same afternoon.
