Angelika Wehinger, head of the ifs violence protection center, spoke in “Vorarlberg LIVE” about the offers for victims of violence.

Victims of sexual violence are often less talked about than the perpetrators. Angelika Wehinger, head of the anti-violence center ifs, also confirms this on the show “Vorarlberg LIVE”: “It is important to keep an eye on the needs of the victims. They should be taken seriously and seen in need.”

In most cases, those affected can only begin to cope with the trauma after the criminal proceedings. “Only then can the work-up be started. Also with psychotherapy, which can also take longer,” explains Wehinger. The ifs is also a contact point for women who experience domestic violence. “We offer short-term and timely appointments for advice, for women who have experienced physical violence and injuries, but also psychological violence, which often leaves no visible traces.” According to the expert, psychological terror includes humiliation, insults and social control. But one thing is certain: “A classic violent relationship is a cycle that begins insidiously.” In most cases, women are affected by domestic violence, who need several attempts to get out of the relationship. “It is very important that those around you react with understanding. That can be a great help in breaking out of the violent relationship,” explains Angelika Wehinger.

The broadcast “Vorarlberg LIVE” is a cooperation between VOL.AT, VN.at, Ländle TV and VOL.AT TV and is broadcast from Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. There’s more here.
