Pierluisi estimates that the reconstruction of the country will take seven more years

Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia estimated on Tuesday that the country’s reconstruction process will take an additional seven years.

“The reconstruction is in full force, the funds are being used correctly. Right now my estimate is that the reconstruction will be fully completed in a term of about seven additional years”declared Pierluisi Urrutia to questions from the press.

The president stressed that the construction industry on the island is in short supply of manpower, which is why he has invited US construction companies to participate in the process.

He also highlighted the creativity in the south, where municipalities affected by earthquakes were allowed to organize themselves into consortiums to manage the works, instead of the central government.

The resident commissioner said on her birthday that she is going to rescue Puerto Rico and that she wanted to be heard on Fortaleza street.

In addition, the governor indicated that in that area, after the effects of the pandemic, all the children resumed face-to-face education quickly.

“We acted quickly, they were built in the modular schools that talk about being temporary, but they can be used for up to 20 years”, he pointed. He also mentioned that they do not rule out permanent construction and replacement of schools in the future.

He notes that fewer murders have been reported than last year.
