Pope Francis received Bill Clinton at the Vatican

Vatican City.- Pope Francis received former United States President Bill Clinton at his Vatican residence, Casa Santa Marta, and they both chatted and exchanged some gifts, as confirmed by the Holy See on their social networks.

The pontiff, aided by a cane for his knee problems, He personally received the ex-president and his delegation at his own residence and told him in English “thank you very much for visiting me.”

Then they sat down and Francis inquired about his Roman agenda: “What have you been doing these days in Rome?” he asked, as heard in the video released by the Vatican.

At the end of the audience, the Pope gave him a statuette and explained that it represents “our work that makes peace.”

For his part, the former US president handed him a tray with the emblem of his country.

Clinton is in Rome to spend two days and last night he could be seen in a restaurant in the city, very close to the embassy of his country, having dinner a typical pasta dish “cacio e peppe”, according to what the local media have reported.

The ex-president already went through the Vatican in 1994, when he was in power, to participate in an audience with the then Pope John Paul II accompanied by his wife, Hillary Clinton.
