Peruvians would face a new rise in prices of various mass consumption products of the basic family basket as a result of the eventual adjustment of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) this 2023, due to the protests against the government that have been taking place in different parts of the country.

These mass consumption products subject to the ISC adjustment will have a significant increase in their costs due to the increase in the consumer price index.

The eventual tax adjustment this year will affect beer, cigarettes, spirits, sugary drinks, among other products, whose price increase would also raise inflation this year, said Andrés Choy, president of the Association of Winemakers of Peru.

“This increase will affect the pockets of residents, who will have to pay more to purchase their favorite product”Choy asserted. The adjustment of the ISC will cause a reduction in the sales of these complementary products, which will affect all the winemakers, who continue to be affected by the political crisis that the country is experiencing.

THEY ASK TO SUSPEND ISC ADJUSTMENT

According to Choy, 99% of the winemakers are in a subsistence situation, since their situation is very fragile and they could close their only livelihood.

“We hope that the government will take corrective measures to end the acts of vandalism in order to work in peace. And from the tax point of view, this adjustment is suspended for this year, so as not to affect the pockets of the population and they can at least continue giving themselves a treat to help them get through these difficult times,” said the representative of the Peruvian winemakers.

THEY WILL GIVE VOUCHERS WITH DISCOUNTS FOR GAS BALLOON

The GLP discount vouchers this year will be S/ 25, S/ 43 and S/ 63, to benefit thousands of households in vulnerable situationsreported the Ministry of Energy and Mines. They will be oriented to provinces with natural gas deposits in operation and districts of the province of La Convención in Cusco.

To date, with the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE) a discount voucher of S/25 is given to 940 thousand 499 beneficiaries (popular kitchens, Qali Warma schools and common pots). The prices of the 10-kilo gas cylinder are very high and in Madre de Dios it cost S/200 due to the blockades.
