Discord voice chat for the PS5
To the Discord voice feature on PS5 to use, you must have your Link PSN and Discord accounts on PS5 first. After that, you use the Discord app on a mobile device or computer to start a voice chat on the Playstation 5 (buy now €697.88 ) to start. Your Discord friends can see whether you are online – and what you are currently playing. In addition, with the new PS5 firmware, it is possible to send a request for screen sharing directly from a friend’s profile. There’s also a new icon (join game in party chats) and a new tile (friends playing). It is now also possible to manually upload recordings to the Playstation app.
VRR support for 1440p
One of the highlights of the new Playstation 5 firmware is the Variable refresh rate support for 1440p. “When using a VRR-compatible HDMI 2.1 display with a resolution of 1440p, you can now enjoy a smoother display when playing a game that supports VRR,” says Sony, adding updates to the original 1440p as well – Having made compatibility for PS5 to enable 1440p for a “broader range of HDMI displays”.
Also new are individual filter options in the game library, for example to be able to find PS VR games more quickly. There are also new features for usability, including migrating saved data from PS4 to PS5. In the future, the Playstation 5 will recognize whether there are already saves available in the cloud for a game downloaded for PS4. The same applies to a PS5 game that can use PS4 save data, for example the PS5 version of a game released on the PS4. There is also the option of transferring the data from a PS5 to another PS5 console via WLAN or LAN. In addition, the Dualsense controller can now be updated wirelessly.
