Mojang has confirmed that together with the cooperative support of Minecraft Legends For your campaign, there is also an exciting 4v4 competitive multiplayer mode. While Minecraft is known for being a cooperative experience for the whole family, veteran gamers will also be very familiar with its potential for high-level competitive action.
It seems Mojang wanted to bring that experience to Minecraft Legends as well, partnering with Blackbird Interactive to offer a standalone PvP mode for the upcoming action-strategy game.
Blackbird Interactive may not be a name everyone is familiar with. The studio is best known for its work in specialized genres, with real-time strategy games like Homeworld: Kharak Wastes, Crossfire: Legion, and the upcoming Homeworld 3 as examples.
While Minecraft Legends is hard to compare directly to those real-time strategy titles, it’s easy to imagine Blackbird’s competitive multiplayer gaming experience carrying over into her work on the next Xbox game.
The Minecraft Legends Developer_Direct presentation focused entirely on the game’s PvP mode. Mojang claims that 4v4 multiplayer gameplay will accompany Minecraft Legends’ single-player campaign, which will be playable entirely in 4-player co-op.
A briefly displayed menu reveals that there will be public matchmaking for the PvP mode, though players will also be able to invite friends or do friends-only matches. It’s unclear if players will be able to queue, or if there will be any deeper organization for the mode aside from casual play.
