A fierce fire destroyed the classic restaurant and parador “La Susana”, located on Mansa beach in José Ignacio, northeast of the Uruguayan city of Punta del Este.

Despite the fact that the place was full of tourists for the long carnival weekend, there were no human victims.

The fire started at around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday over the facilities, where highly flammable materials such as wood and cane predominate.

The place was packed with tourists due to the long carnival weekend, so there was a special party with a DJ included.

Despite the high turnout, the evacuation was quick and no one was injured.

Tweet from the National Directorate of Firefighters of Uruguay

Volunteer firefighters worked for more than an hour and a half to contain the flames in a place that, opened 10 years ago, became a true classic in the area and is one of the places most chosen by Argentines.

The next Thursday there was going to be a special event in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the place.
