BERLIN.- The selector of GermanyJulian Nagelsmann, announced a group of 27 players to prepare for Euro 2024 (June 14-July 14) at home, which includes Toni Kroos and captain Ilkay Gündogan, but not the Champions finalists with Dortmund, Mats Hummels and Julian Brandt.
At the end of the preparation matches against Ukraine on June 4 in Nuremberg and Greece on June 7 in Mönchengladbach, Nagelsmann must submit to UEFA a list of a maximum of 26 players (deadline June 7 at midnight).
Germany will begin its European Championship on June 14 in Munich against Scotland, before facing Hungary on June 19 in Stuttgart and Switzerland on June 23 in Frankfurt.
The entire list was announced this Thursday at a press conference in Berlin, but 18 names had already been announced between Sunday and Wednesday through the media and social networks.
Among the nine names that had not yet been revealed are the midfielders of the Real Madrid, Kroos, and from Bayern, Jamal Musiala, or the goalkeepers from FC Barcelona, Marc-André ter Stegen, and from Stuttgart, Alexander Nübel.
The call from the captain of the ‘Mannschaft’, Ilkay Gündogan, was revealed on advertising panels on Alexanderplatz, one of the iconic enclaves of the Berlin capital.
Borussia Dortmund’s long run in the Champions League has not changed Nagelsmann’s initial idea. Thus, Hummels, Julian Brandt or Karim Adeyemi will not be at Euro 2024. Two BVB players, defender Nico Schlotterbeck and forward Niclas Füllkrug, are present on the roster.
Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka is not there either.
