It’s been a week since Brandenburg’s Greens forced their previous co-chair Julia Schmidt to resign immediately. So far, neither the party nor the parliamentary group leadership have provided a plausible explanation for this, although the abrupt break with the 29-year-old Green hopeful is likely to be unique in the country’s recent party history. It is kept silent and dismissed. Nobody wants to be quoted, although the Greens in particular always propagate transparency. The performance, just a year and a half before the Brandenburg elections, could hardly be worse.
