The company Hans Riegelein & Sohn is recalling a Santa Claus made of milk chocolate. The company in Cadolzburg, Middle Franconia, announced that it could not be ruled out that individual packages with the batch number L-102293N and the best-before date of July 31, 2023 were contaminated with salmonella.

Eating Santa Claus “Santa Claus in town” can lead to health problems. The recall is therefore being carried out for reasons of preventive consumer protection.

The aforementioned Santa made of 200 grams of chocolate was sold in branches of Netto Marken-Discount in parts of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Customers would get the money back in their shops even without presenting the receipt.

Salmonella disease manifests itself within a few days after infection with diarrhoea, abdominal pain and occasionally vomiting and a slight fever. Anyone who has eaten St. Nicholas and develops severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical help and point out a possible salmonella infection, it said. (dpa)
