On Monday, January 23, 2023, another blood donation campaign took place in Hohenems.

The Hohenems rescue department was able to record a record participation. At times, those willing to donate stood in a row of two. A total of 312 blood donation bags could ultimately be filled, the blood group of six blood donors was determined, and 29 people unfortunately had to be turned away due to various reasons for exclusion. 346 donors were processed in five hours! This is the highest number of blood donation bags collected so far in the blood bank’s overall statistics; the previous record was 285 people.

This time, only eight donors who had circulatory problems after the donation needed medical attention. The Feldkirch blood bank with its 13-strong team and two doctors accompanied the onslaught of the population in a sovereign manner.

Honorary commander Norbert Rücker and the members of the Hohenems rescue department treated the donors to a hearty snack and a drink after the blood donation.

What was striking about this blood donation campaign was that, in addition to the “regular customers”, many first-time donors also took part in the campaign. As every year, the members of the fire brigade, VfB and the ATIB association were strongly represented.

The honorary commander Norbert Rücker and Toni Amann as representatives of the Hohenems rescue department each presented a bottle of sparkling wine and a car pharmacy as a small recognition for donating blood to Julia Kertel as 99th, Sonja Keck as 100th, both from Hohenems, and Ruth Schuler-Maier from Altach as 151st .Donor.

The next blood donation date in Hohenems has already been set: on Monday, July 17, 2023, again in the St. Konrad rectory.
