As SVT Blekinge previously reported so the Blekinge region risks losing SEK 415 million in 2023. After the increased pension costs are calculated, there is a restoration requirement of SEK 148 million.

During Thursday, the region’s management team sent out a video on its intranet to all staff. There, regional director Peter Lilja, finance director Monica Magnusson and communications director Madeleine Flod presented the work with the savings requirements.

Among other things, comparisons with other regions show that Blekinge has particularly high costs for healthcare.

– We produce more or less the same care as other regions, but at a higher price, says Monica Magnusson in the video.

In a text message to SVT Blekinge, the chairman of the regional board, Christina Mattisson (S), writes that it is the Kalmar region that Blekinge is compared to.

Hiring staff the big cost

It is mainly the cost of rental staff that is driving away, and the plan is now to create a more attractive workplace.

Can you give some concrete examples of how you should do it?

– It is important that we try to have a good dialogue in the workplace. When it comes to the rental staff issue, it’s about trying to have a controlled dependence, says regional director Peter Lilja and continues:

– We have to become better and more attractive, it’s about salary, employment conditions and work pressure.

Does this mean that employees can expect wage increases despite the savings requirements?

– We have an annual salary review and there will be salary increases, we are just sitting with it now. The brand has been set and we are working towards it, says Peter Lilja.
