At Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, the consequences of Friday’s warning strikes at several other German airports are no longer felt. “We are no longer affected by the strike today,” said an airport spokesman on Saturday morning. It is a completely normal, regular operating day.
“A Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt was canceled this morning. But that has nothing to do with the strike.” The Verdi union had called for all-day warning strikes at the airports in Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuttgart, Dortmund, Hanover and Bremen on Friday.
There had been no work stoppage at BER itself. According to the spokesman, however, 28 flights to Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart have been canceled and 28 incoming flights from these three cities have been cancelled.
“Other than that, we still had a relatively normal day of traffic,” said the airport spokesman. “Up to 7,000 passengers may have been affected by the canceled flights.” Exact figures are not yet available. (dpa)
