Germany has become a strong location for biotechnology in recent years. With its considerable potential, it offers many employees the chance of secure continued employment during the transformation.
The industrial healthcare industry is a growing industry of the future that is already generating gross value added of more than 75 billion euros. It thus secures almost 1 million jobs in Germany. The research-based pharmaceutical companies invest more than 7.3 billion euros in research and development every year. But: The global competition for these high-tech investments is fierce. The USA, China, but also many neighboring European countries are actively promoting the settlement of companies with government incentive programs and adjustments to market, research and patent regulations. As a result, Germany has already slipped from second to fifth place in the ranking of study locations for the pharmaceutical industry. In order for Germany to remain attractive for companies, the market, location and research conditions must be continuously improved.
The series “Healthy Industrial Policy – Progress Dialogue” therefore wants to show in close cooperation with the companies, the IGBCE and political representatives what this industry achieves in Germany and what it needs in order to remain part of the world leaders in biotechnology.
Under the patron Gabriele KatzmarekMdB, parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group and member of the Economic Committee, we want to talk about healthy industrial policy as part of a series of events and sharpen our perspective together.
