Reports: Neymar Jr. and Marco Verratti would not count for Luis Enrique's PSG ahead of the 2023-2024 season

Reports directly from France spread this Wednesday that the PSG board, led by sports director Luis Campos and strategist Luis Enrique, they would not require the services of Brazilian winger Neymar Jr. and fellow Italian Marco Verratti.

In information from the gala chain RMC Sport both Neymar Jr. and Verratti do not count in sporting terms for PSG’s 2023-2024 season project and for that reason they were summoned to a meeting where they were informed that they are free to negotiate with other clubs.

The news comes amid transfer rumors that have linked both the Brazil 10 and the midfielder to new kits.

In the case of Neymar, Spanish media reported that the dribbler hopes to be able to return to FC Barcelona and although the Catalan board likes the idea, Xavi Hernández would not be interested in having the player and also the economic issue would represent a problem.

According to contract Neymar recently activated the clause in which he automatically renewed his contract for four seasons, through 2027, in which he receives more than $35 million per season while Verratti is linked to the institution until 2026.

At the meeting, Campos and Luis Enrique also reported that there are three other footballers ruled out: the Portuguese Renato Sanches, the French Hugo Ekitike and the Spanish Juan Bernat.

The rumors of the departure of Neymar and Verratti from PSG come amid a revolution within the PSG dressing room, which has brought in the likes of Lucas Hernández, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio and most recently Benfica striker Gonçalo Ramos.
