The president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Senate and candidate for presidential candidacy, Ricardo Monreal Avila, went to the state of Coahuila to show their support for Armando Guadiana, candidate for state governor.
The coordinator of the Morenista bench in the Upper House attended one of the events of the candidate of the guinda party, who seeks to obtain the title of state Executive against his rivals from the PT, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja; the PAN, PRI PRD alliance with manolo jimenezand Evaristo Lenin Perez, of the PVEM and UDC.
In your participation, Ricardo Monreal stressed that his attendance at the entity is due to a “moral duty” that he has with Morena, and above all to support the candidate and compañero Guadiana, whom he described as one of the few who joined the morenista bandwagon when they were looking for the candidates to contend for the state.
“I come because I have a moral duty to Morena, and I have a duty to the national leadership with the party leadership that asked me to accompany a good friend to these places,” the senator highlighted in his participation.
Similarly, Monreal recalled when he and the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador toured Coahuila to look for candidates to join the project of the Fourth Transformation (4T)a task that was difficult for them to accomplish given the scenario that governed the entity 6 years ago.
“Six years ago we were looking for candidates under the rug and nobody dared because the state was lost. And you know who said I help? he, Armando Guadiana (…) López Obrador and I came to the municipalities and there was no one who wanted to be a candidate for Morena”, described the senator.
Ricardo Monreal was the first of the “corcholatas” to go to the entity after the request of the national leader of Morena, Mario Delgado Carrillo, who spoke out before the controversy of the aspirants to the presidency.
Only on May 5, after the meeting in Puebla to commemorate the 161 Anniversary of May 5, two of the “corcholatas”, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, capital chief, and Adam Augustus, Secretary of the Interior, confirmed their attendance in Coahuila by holding talks with the leader of Morena.
However, it was Senator Monreal who made the call come, because a few weeks before the 2023 elections take place, Morena had requested the presence of all the aspirants for the presidential candidacy to support Armando Guadiana.
For their part, the head of the CDMX and the Secretary of the Interior asked their colleagues to endorse the unit for the local elections and not advance the party processes with the 2024 elections.
“I’m going to Coahuila, the day will be defined by our party and they will inform us. It is very important to take care of all the conditions established by the electoral law to support Guadiana there (…) there is time for everything, especially to keep unity for the project (The Fourth Transformation)”, highlighted the head of government
“You have to respect the times (…) you have to be patient and prudent,” said the secretary.
Of the four “corcholatas” of Morena, only Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Foreign Relations, and who began with the accusations and criticisms of the party leaders, has been the only one not to confirm his presence in Cahuilla or to speak out before Mario Delgado’s requests.
On May 2, the Mexican foreign minister reported to the media that Morena had not set the date to carry out the party’s internal poll for the election of the presidential representative, for which he urged the national leader to clarify the times and process to be carried out.
