The Municipality of Reconquista, together with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Province of Santa Fe, the National Technological University – Reconquista Regional Faculty and the Municipality of Avellaneda, organize the Symposium “Special Biomass Irrigated with Effluents in the Coastal Region of La Cuenca del Plata”, to be held on Tuesday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 17. This event arises from the initiative of the work team in charge of formulating the project “Comprehensive Sanitation of Arroyo El Rey”, financed by the Federal Investment Council (CFI).

The presentation, which took place this Thursday the 11th at the UTN headquarters, was attended by the Mayor of Reconquista, Dr. Amadeo Enrique Vallejos; of the Mayor of Avellaneda, CPN. Gonzalo Braidot; the Dean of the UTN, Eng. Brian Moschén; the Vice Dean of the UTN, in charge of the IDT of the Reconquista Regional, Ing. Santiago Arnulphi; and on behalf of the local industrial sector, Dante Sartor.

Mayor Vallejos expressed his satisfaction “for the progress of the executive project for the comprehensive sanitation of Arroyo El Rey”, a priority purpose for a long time for the Municipality, “with a process of years of effort between the public sector, the private sector and the institutions”.

In this sense, he highlighted “the importance of beginning the construction of the sewage effluent treatment plant in Reconquista, which can also be part of the irrigation for the production of biomass”, in the framework of generating the necessary conditions “for investments that are already being carried out”. He explained that it is “a very ambitious initiative, to affect 2,200 hectares to produce 1 million trees fertilized with biomass”, giving rise to a new option for growth and development for the local economy.

For his part, the Mayor of Avellaneda, Braidot, highlighted “the joint work between the two cities as a metropolitan area, the UTN and the private sector, to achieve a long-cherished goal,” advancing in the search for financing to carry it out. and take care of “something as emblematic and historical as our El Rey Stream, to recover it and begin to take advantage of it.”

The Dean of the UTN, Moschén, thanked “all the work teams involved for organizing an event of great importance, with a comprehensive project with triple impact: social, economic and environmental”, extending the invitation “to companies, institutions and general public to participate in the event.

Sustainable development

The Symposium is integrated with the first meeting of the group of researchers belonging to Universities of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay of the Project “Special forestations irrigated with effluents for various purposes”, approved and financed by the Pérez Guerrero Trust Fund of the United Nations Program.

The purpose of the event is to provide knowledge on the management and use of sewage, industrial and livestock activities effluents through the Irrigation of Special Biomass, in order to remedy or prevent situations of degradation of bodies of water as well as develop areas with high environmental, economic, social and urban impacts, based on Bioeconomy and Circular Economy measures and actions within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals and Smart Cities.

With venues in the Casa del Bicentenario de Reconquista, the Avellaneda Municipal Auditorium and the UTN – FRR Auditorium, during the two days there will be exhibitions on scientific knowledge and reference projects on the management and use of effluents, covering physical, technical aspects , economic, social and environmental carried out by an interdisciplinary team and experts in the matter from the country and abroad. In particular, there will be a presentation of the “Comprehensive Sanitation of Arroyo El Rey” project that is under development.
