Robert Downey Jr. He hasn’t had an easy past. The actor lived from his childhood the problems in which his father, Downey Sr., was involved with the drugs and alcohol. A world that he entered when he was only eight years old, leading him to an addiction between the 80s and 90s, when he was 20 years old.
A time that coincided with the relationship he had with Sarah Jessica Parker, who just a few days ago confessed that she felt like a mother to him, and that this situation led to their breakup in 1991. Far from improving the situation, it worsened, and as a result to have problems with the law, entered jail. there it happened first six months in 1997 for speeding and heroin and cocaine use; the following year he returned to prison for four months for avoiding a drug test; and in 1999 he entered the state prison in Corcoran (California) to spend 15 months for, once again, avoiding passing a drug test.
“It was like being in a really bad neighborhood”
An unpleasant stay about which he has spoken openly on the podcast of ‘Armchair Expert’noting that he had to deal with complicated situations: “You could feel the evil in the air, and that wasn’t a problem because it was like being in a really bad neighborhood. There was no chance there. there were only threats”.
But, without a doubt, what he stays with is the delano reception centerof which he assures that it is “possibly the most dangerous place in which I have been in my life”, since it was the place where the prisoners waited to be assigned to their cells.
Although, what the interpreter remembers the most is when he received the prison sentence from the judge: “I am going to try to give the key points. I’m in court, an angry judge is sentencing me and at some point he said something to me in Latin. I thought he was casting a spell on me”.
