In a press release published on its official Facebook page on Thursday February 02, 2023, the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry announced the closure of a pharmaceutical laboratory.

Indeed, in its press release, it is explained that the Ministry of the Pharmaceutical Industry ordered the temporary closure of Laboratoires Salem, a company producing pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, due to violations and breaches of good practices of manufacturing.

In this same press release, the ministry explains that it is in accordance with the provisions of Executive Decree No. 82-21 of 11 Rajab 42 corresponding to February 23, 2021, governing pharmaceutical establishments and their approval, that this decision was taken.

For information, “Laboratoires Salem” is a company created in 1994 which manufactures, packages and markets drugs in Algeria. You should know that there are two production sites, one in El Eulma and the second in Setif, with more than 300 employees. This closure therefore risks having a real impact on the activity of the pharmaceutical company.

Medi Comb: permanent withdrawal of approval

In the aftermath, the Ministry of the Pharmaceutical Industry publishes a second press release to announce this time that “Medicomb”, a company specializing in the production of pharmaceutical equipment and supplies, has had its approval withdrawn, and this definitively.

The ministry adds that this decision was also taken according to Executive Decree No. 82-21 of 11 Rajab 42 corresponding to February 23, 2021.

In other words, this withdrawal is due to the non-compliance of manufacturing practices but also to violations observed by the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry.
