San Salvador 2023: Caleb Tirado achieves bronze in the 57 kilos

Caleb Tirado from Arecibo formalized the first bronze medal for the Delegation of Puerto Rico in boxing, in the 57 kilos.

“My opponent is highly experienced like me. And, it was really a pleasure, an excellent fight, I even felt like I was winning at one point. Then I’ll watch the fight. Really, I feel super good to represent the island, ”he said when he left the ring, Turabo.

The Puerto Rican took the bronze after losing by unanimous decision against the Venezuelan, Yoel Finol. It was in the first round that the Puerto Rican was beating his opponent with speed and agility. However, the second and third “rounds” were for the Venezuelan who looked fresh, fast and with marked blows to Tirado.

“I want each teammate to remember why they are fighting, so that it gives them extra gasoline to get that medal that Puerto Rico needs so much,” said the debutant boxer at the San Salvador 2023 Games.

Puerto Rico will have on billboard tonight the bronze medalist in Barranquilla 2018, Stephanie Piñeiro against the Venezuelan Juliannys Álvarez in the 66 kilos; the 2018 Barranquilla champion, Ashleyann Lozada, in the 57 kilos division against the Dominican Miguelina Hernández; and, the boxer Krystal Rosado versus Aylin Jamez, who competes for Centro Caribe Sports (Guatemala), in the 50 kilos.

You can see the action by Point 2.
