Second suspect charged in connection to New Bedford homicide

Authorities have charged a second person in connection with a homicide in New Bedford, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Authorities charged Wyllie Monteiro, 25, of New Bedford, with accessory to murder after the fact Thursday, WJAR reported.

He is the second person charged with the murder of 20-year-old Lorenzo Gomes.

On Monday night, police arrested 24-year-old Sterling Robinson in Fall River.

He is currently being held without bail.

Police were called to the area of ​​Tallman and North Front streets around midnight Monday for reports of gunshots.

Police later found Gomes in his car a block away, where it appears he tried to drive to the hospital.

He had a loaded gun in his lap at the time, but investigators said it does not appear to have been fired.

Monteiro will be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Thursday.
