So many people come here that the municipalities find it difficult to accommodate and integrate them well. That’s why it was high time for a summit in the Chancellery. However, the results are more than sobering. They are insufficient in terms of sharing the financial burden. And they are questionable in terms of human rights. The federal government has used the plight of the municipalities more or less incidentally for a turnaround in asylum policy. The traffic light government wants to achieve what the hardliner Horst Seehofer always wanted: to steer Germany towards the foreclosure course of right-wing governments in Europe. The vast majority of state governments support them in this. Everyone could know: fences and walls around Europe are of no use to the municipalities. People will come in even more dangerous ways. Even the call for deportation does not help anyone, because there are good reasons for the obstacles to deportation. A fortiori, these slogans do not help the municipalities in the housing crisis.
